Cinco de Mayo is the most misunderstood holiday on the US retail calendar — it is not Mexican Independence Day, and in Mexico it is barely celebrated outside Puebla. In the United States, though, it is a full party occasion: restaurant promos, backyard fiestas, school events and bar specials, all on one fixed date, May 5. For linen buyers that means a bright, fixed palette and a short, dependable sell window.

Color Strategy: Fiesta Brights
The palette is fixed and unambiguous:
- Primary brights: red, green and white (the flag trio) lead volume.
- Serape rainbow: orange, yellow, turquoise and magenta as accent runners — the multi-stripe serape pattern is the single most recognizable Cinco de Mayo visual.
- Papel picado accents: perforated-banner imagery transfers to printed runners and napkins.
